Phil Varone is an accomplished drummer, music producer and songwriter best known for his work with the bands Saigon Kick, Skid Row, Prunella Scales and currently the drummer for Jake E Lee's Red Dragon Cartel.
In 2005, Phil took a break from drumming to pursue acting, writing and standup comedy. After moving to Los Angeles, Phil began doing standup comedy and created the very popular Sex Stand Up Rock & Roll Show that found a home at world famous IMPROV in Los Angeles, C.A. During this time, he produced and starred In the feature length documentary, Waking Up Dead released June, 2007.
Phil’s passion for acting has lead to roles on Californication (Showtime), a commercial for Nokia Cellular and an appearance on NBC's Identity, E TV, various short films,VH1’s hit show Sex Rehab w/ Dr Drew, Discovery Channel’s Strange Sex and Celebrity Ghost Stories. Phil has also appeared on numerous talk shows including Oprah, Tyra Banks and The Today show.
In 2013 Phil signed a publishing deal with River Ave Books, releasing his first book titled Un-Philtered. With this freshman release, Phil solidified himself as a critics and fan favorite with many future books to come.
In 2017 Phil came back to music and joined Jake E Lee's Red Dragon Cartel. Once joined, Phil was in the studio recording Red Dragon Cartel's 2018 Frontiers Records release PATINA. Phil would also play drums on the PATINA tour of the US and Japan.
Phil currently lives in Las Vegas and continues session work as a drummer, producer and song writer. Phil's main focus is being an Author, as he continues writing the newest book The Horses Left The Stable, as well as producing a 90 minute feature length documentary about his drumming career titled, 30 yrs a drummer slated for a March 2020 release.
