Rocker Phil Varone Bares All As Playgirl’s First Rocker Centerfold

Playgirl Magazine chooses rocker Phil Varone to spice things up this holiday season. Varone, who claims to have slept with over 3,000 women, is ecstatic about his Playgirl debut. Tattooed, raw and real, this 21st century man is an actor, standup comedian, author, swinger, rock drummer and can now add Playgirl’s first rocker centerfold to his many credits. Varone adds his irreverent edge and fierce sex appeal to the legendary magazine’s image, taking the publication to the next level and baring himself completely, down to his swinging lifestyle. He’s breaking ground not only as the first rocker to achieve Playgirl centerfold status, but also in bringing rock photographer Todd Kancar to the spread.

The extensive 16-page feature consists of hardcore strip downs where Varone’s no-holds-barred approach adds a special kind of controversy. In his intimate confessions, he reveals details about his swinging lifestyle in the hope of demystifying the taboos of sex.

“Ignorance toward this lifestyle is only fueled by lack of knowledge,” said Varone. “The fact that we have sex with others has nothing to do with the core relationship, in fact it makes it stronger.”

Varone is no stranger to the limelight or being known for deviating from the norm. Over the past couple years, he’s appeared on a number of television shows, including The Oprah Winfrey Show, NBC’s The Today Show, The Tyra Banks Show, and Sex Rehab with Dr. Drew, a VH1 spinoff of Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew. He’s also appeared as a guest star on a number of hit television shows including Californiacation and Numbers and has performed standup at legendary venues like The Improv. Varone has also created and hosts the Sex Stand Up Rock And Roll Show.

VH1, Dr. Drew and Irwin Entertainment have expanded their documentary series on addiction to examine one of society’s most taboo topics, sex addiction, in the upcoming series Sex Rehab With Dr. Drew. The series is set to premiere on VH1 on Sunday, November 1 at 10pm.

Addictions are nothing new, and most people are aware of those involving alcohol, drugs, and eating disorders such as anorexia and bulimia, but few know about and understand sex addiction. It afflicts roughly 3%-6% of the American population, and just like other addictions, its impact on personal lives can be devastating. The affliction can wreak havoc on the mental and physical health of those afflicted as well as destroy marriages, families, careers and even finances.

Dr. Drew and a team of the nation’s foremost experts on sexual addiction will guide eight patients through an intensive state of the art program. Living together for 21 days, they’ll meet with Dr. Drew in daily one-on-one and group therapy sessions in order to get to the root of their compulsive behavior.

Dr. Drew is a highly respected practicing MD, is board certified in addiction medicine and assistant clinical professor of psychiatry at KECK USC School of Medicine, who will once again give viewers an unflinching look at exactly how the rehab process works and what it feels like for participants. Dr. Drew hopes to use his patients to humanize the process and show viewers that treatment is a viable way to break the cycle of addiction.

Beginning Monday, October 26 fans can catch a sneak peek of the season’s first episode on VH1.com – one week before the on-air premiere. Subsequent episodes will be available on VH1.com the morning after they air. Ex-”Skid Row” drummer, Phil Varone signed an endorsement deal with Rockett Drum Works, Inc. last night. Varone, who is about embark on a tour with ex band mates “Saigon Kick” has also made quite a name for himself in the comedy world. Phil was also the focus of a shocking documentary, “Waking Up Dead” that profiled the life of a touring drummer wrapped up in the trappings of rock stardom during the Skid Row years.

“Phil was my buddy on the Poison /Skid Row tour several years ago.” Says, Rockett Drum Works President and Poison drummer, Rikki Rockett. “This was a guy who repeatedly abused himself and still came on stage and did an amazing job every night.
Now that he is sober, the sky isn’t even the limit!”

Phil will take a custom Rockett Drum Works all maple kit finished in silver glass glitter on the Saigon Kick tour this summer.
